Hey Folks, I know it’s not even summer yet, but it’s never too soon to plan ahead. Join me and my colleague, Stephanie Harding, for a weekend of practice, fellowship and fun. On October 2-4 2015 we’re hosting a retreat at the Stony Point Retreat Center in the Lower Hudson River Valley–about an hour from NYC. Awaken your senses to the sights, sounds, tastes, and smells of the harvest season while deepening both your practice and your connection to our yoga community.
Walk the labyrinth, explore the Japanese Peace Garden, enjoy a bit of quiet contemplation in the meditation hall, take a self-guided tour of the farm, or lose yourself in a book on the wraparound porch of the Gilmor Sloane House–our own private space for the weekend. This 150-year-old Victorian mansion is furnished with period furniture and features not one, but two beautifully appointed sitting parlors and lots of cozy corners for relaxation or conversation. Each double room features unique décor and ensuite bath. (Single rooms are available at a supplemental price.) For those with limited mobility, the house includes an elevator and two rooms that are fully accessible for persons with disabilities.
The weekend’s activities include:
–Two yoga practices and at least one other group activity of interest, including topics such as pranayama, yoga philosophy, or exploration of some of the deeper practices
-Enjoying autumn’s brilliant colors on the grounds with our own meditative walks
-An optional hike at either Bear Mountain or Harriman State Park, both a stone’s throw away
-An optional evening of theater with reduced-price tickets for the world premier of “Priceless,” a comedy by David Robson, at Rockland County’s Penguin Rep Theater
Delicious meals will feature locally-sourced, fresh, organic vegetables and fruits grown on premises and fresh eggs from the chicken coop. Meal options from Friday dinner through Sunday lunch include meat, vegetarian and/or vegan offerings in a cheerful community dining room.
The cost of the weekend including lodging, yoga practices and activities, meals, tea at 3, and beverages is $400 per person. Or take advantage of the early bird discount of $375 with a $100 dollar deposit by May 20th. This is one retreat with something for everyone, so feel free to bring a friend or loved one. The Stony Point Retreat center is accessible by train with a free shuttle to and from the station, so you don’t even have to drive.

Dear Lynn,
This sounds like the best yoga retreat EVER, but not something I could consider this year. At this point, I don’t want to leave my husband alone because of our sadness.
Thanks for understanding.
Marie D.
Dear Marie,
Taking care of you and your husband is the work of a true yogini. Being with your sadness honors the deep love you have for your family. There is nothing to understand.
With great sympathy,
Lynn
